Selling research peptides online is legal when the store is positioned, built and marketed for laboratory research use only. Research use only is a standard the store has to meet in every part of itself: the positioning, the labels, the product pages, the checkout.
Why intended use decides it
Under the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, whether a product is treated as a "drug" depends on its intended use (21 U.S.C. 321(g)(1)). Intended use is established by marketing: the claims, the labels, the images, the words on the page. A compound sold with neutral, research-only positioning is a research chemical. The same compound sold alongside a claim about weight, recovery or any other health effect has been marketed as a drug. The vial is identical either way, and intended use is set by the words around it.
That is why a store like this controls its own language so tightly. The words on the page decide which of the two it is, and they are entirely under your control.
What a compliant store has in it
Positioning comes down to a list of concrete things:
- A registered company with its own bank account before anything is sold.
- A 21+ age gate visitors acknowledge before they can browse.
- Research-use-only disclaimers on every product page, in the footer and at checkout: not for human or animal consumption, not evaluated by the FDA.
- A checkout attestation, where the buyer confirms they're purchasing for research before the order will complete.
- Neutral catalog names, never pharmaceutical brand names, and no dosing or usage instructions anywhere.
- Product reviews turned off, because accounts of personal use are evidence of intended use.
- Third-party Certificates of Analysis published for the catalog.
Where the risk sits after launch
A store built to standard can still be undone by a single affiliate post. That is why affiliates sign written agreements requiring disclosure of the relationship (16 C.F.R. Part 255), banning consumption and before-and-after content, and making no earnings claims. The FTC Act (Section 5) requires the same thing: you cannot make a claim you are unable to substantiate.
The part you control
Whether a store is built to that standard is your decision. Build it research-use-only in the copy, the labels and the checkout and it stays on the right side of the line.
